Class Description

Join us for a fun and creative 8-week journey into the world of figurative sculpture. In this hands-on class, you’ll create expressive human heads and torsos using simple slab-building techniques—no armatures or complicated tools required. While some prior experience with clay is preferred, this class is all about exploring your creative side and having fun with the process. Throughout the course, we’ll focus on bringing personality and emotion into your sculptures. Whether you’re making a joyful, surprised, or a characterful quirky face, the goal is to put expression into your work. You’ll learn how to use the natural properties of clay to shape and mould your figures into something full of life and character. There’s no need to worry about achieving perfect anatomical accuracy—this class is all about capturing mood, gesture, and character in your sculpture.. By the end of the course, you’ll have at least one completed head and torso sculpture that’s uniquely yours, and you’ll leave with new techniques and fresh inspiration. Whether you’re looking to try something new, or dive deeper into your creative practice, this class is a great opportunity to have fun with clay, experiment with form, and express yourself. Previous experience with pottery/sculpture recommended although not required.
