We highly recommend that you attend the taster session on Sunday 26 April at 10am if you want to take part in this workshop series. Saturday 23 May 1pm - 5pm Terra sigillata will be available to put on greenware Please bring along pieces of work made from clay that is suitable for RAKU firing. Work will need to be bisque fired Christine will show you the options, and have the glazes available for you to put on your work ready for the RAKU firing the following week. During this session you will apply glazes, mix obvara (if required - it’s like a sour dough, it needs time to ferment). Naked raku finishes will be available and need time to dry. All of this takes time because it’s winter, and pots need to be kept dry. Work can be left at club rooms after glazing to ensure this At this session we will also set up of the RAKU kiln and reduction vessels, exploring the benefits of different options, eg sawdust vs damp newspaper. Saturday 30 May - All day A hands on day of preparing the RAKU kiln, setting up the reduction vessels and assisting with the firing and reduction processes. Attendees need to be involved in the Raku firing - it’s not a drop off situation.
